Executive Summary Design 2023-2024
Madison College requires the IETC to develop and present a yearly Executive Summary to explain the annual agenda, in response to effectiveness measures, engagement and outlook. I had the honor of connecting a professional, Madison College IETC brand aligned, style to create enthusiasm around the topic of DEI initiatives at Madison College.
Challenge: Design a long-format concept which visually celebrates the IETC and recognizes the tireless progress of faculty collaborators.
Solution: My design is a Bauhaus inspired, brand aligned, sophisticated, energetic style with inclusive ADA format.
Dr. Marco Torrez-Miranda, IETC Director, provided art direction during the evolution of the project.

Representation
Challenge: Balance representation throughout the "IETC Leadership" and "Faculty Partners" pages.
Solution: The interior pages required a collaborative editing process, which honored the current work of the IETC Leadership and the IETC Faculty partners. Marco and I discussed employee position/contribution within the visual hierarchy. He felt individual representation (image size, title and treatment) should be equally important, unattached to IETC duration of involvement or experience. We worked together to create layouts which never placed any one contributor in an inferior visual relationship to another IETC contributor. We made sure that no one employee ever stood in a row alone. We gave the layout balance and rhythm.
Statistical data communication
Challenge: Select data to represent success highlights, evolving metrics, efforts and achievements of the IETC Leadership and IETC Faculty.
Solution: My design solution, working with the data Marco provided of overarching IETC efforts, focused on high-level explanations. Visual compliments were created with Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Excel which could translate impact to those uninvolved with the DEI data analytics. My workflow for graph design began with the data in excel, then export the graphs (retaining scale) to Adobe Illustrator. I could then measure metric accuracy with Adobe Illustrator graphing tools. I paired these images with simple icon and visual representation which focus in on the impact over time.

This project was a long lasting partnership, with many collaborators. The intention of longterm review and collaboration was an effort to help every IETC collaborator be seen and feel they could engage in the presentation of their efforts. Click the button to view the full PDF on Adobe Acrobat.
Curriculum Mapping Development Program Website Design 2024
Curriculum Mapping Development Program (CMDP) is designed to help higher education professionals assess and revise their course learning outcomes and teaching practices. The goal is to effectively integrate college-identified learning outcomes, thereby enriching both the student experience and their learning journey (CMDP, 2024).
Challenges: Create visuals which respect the topic vulnerability.
Solution:  Topic is an important consideration when designing illustrations for landing and subpages. I wanted to give audiences grounding visuals which would help learners and teachers stay focused during the sensitive information dissemination. The visuals speak to the organizational process of data collection. However, the abstract representation creates a space for each individual to associate the impact of their data metrics within the development process.
Challenges: Create legacy visual language that is timeless.
Solution: My CMDP website design, inspired by Paula Shear's love of maps, incorporates an abstract urban map, abstract graphical representations (pyramid graph, bar graph and line graph) and Madison College IETC brand logo marks and style guide.
Challenges: Organize a multitiered, multi-year program across one website.
Solution: Each CMDP phase is categorized by a 3-color brand palette and a style of graph. My CMDP design is modern and clean, with the directional pull of a simple line/dot to separate and attach components of the teaching pathway. The visual design organizes information for improved navigation, retention and reduced burnout (learner and educator).

Like most designers, I love logo design!
Challenge: Incorporate 2 overarching brand marks into each internal department logo design.
Solution: Make a commitment to type hierarchy and brand guide standards, preserve formatting to create a visual rhythm.
Exceptions to the Rule: For the Action Research Logo, we decided to move away from the brand shape, with intention. As designers say, know what the rules are, so you can know when to break them. I love brand guides, even crave creating brand guides for new clients. However, Action Research needed to have a the visual empowerment of the circle to re-engage, re-evolve, re-enact, and re-excel. Due to the nature of Action Research, being always in responsive motion, we felt the circle best represented the intentions of the faculty to be turning to learners, as the directors of reform.
